Dorothee Otero

Housing Director

With over 35 years of experience in non-profit management, grant writing, fundraising, and housing, Dorothee Otero joined Heading Home as the Housing Coordinator in 2011 to kick off the Albuquerque Heading Home initiative.  In March 2015, she became the Housing Director of Keeping Families Together, and in 2018, she assumed responsibility for all of Heading Home’s permanent supportive housing programs.

Since migrating to the US in 1977, Dorothee has worked primarily with non-profits who serve the needs of those who find themselves homeless in Albuquerque. Before joining Heading Home, she spent 16 years as the CEO of an organization that served women and children. Her love and dedication to this work comes from her deep faith and “an attitude of servitude”. Dorothee has worked with numerous boards over the years and is currently a board member of the Children’s Justice Act Advisory Group (CJAAG) and the Bernalillo County Accountable Health Communities Board.

Dorothee has two wonderful sons and three fabulous grandchildren. She also enjoys serving in global missions and is a small group leader through her church.
