The Westside Emergency Housing Center (WEHC), which typically shuts down seasonally on March 15th, is now funded to operate through the end of June.  Heading Home thanks Mayor Tim Keller and the City’s Department of Family and Community Services for pushing for operating funds as we work towards a sustainable year-round solution. We also thank the Albuquerque City Council for seeing the necessity of this funding and working in tandem with WEHC stakeholders.

The funding also includes daytime operation on weekends with transportation into town offered to residents. Right now, residents are bussed back into town every morning, including weekends.

Heading Home began operating WEHC last season and is working with the City in its efforts to transition the operation into a site/s in town, closer to support services.  For more information, click here for an Albuquerque Journal article on the funding.
