Presented by Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, the annual Chile Festival has raised nearly $225,000 over its 21-year history. All proceeds have benefited Albuquerque area nonprofit organizations. Heading Home is grateful to collaborate with Shepherd of the Valley Church as one of their 3 community-building partners this year! “Providing Heading Home, Wings For LIFE and our preschool the opportunity to introduce themselves to the public is invaluable to these charities that do such good work. Heading Home and Wings For LIFE particularly rely on volunteers so giving them this opportunity is exciting,” says Shepherd of the Valley Pastor, Tom Hart. Heading Home will have a table at this event where we will have the opportunity to engage with people and share information about our work.

This popular yearly community gathering offers visitors great entertainment, over 80 arts and crafts vendors, hot roasted chile, food sellers and silent auctions on Saturday. The festival has added a second entertainment stage this year on Sunday for storytelling and other spoken word performances. Annual festival favorites are the plant sale, book sale and bake sale. General Admission is FREE. The event also includes local music groups, food vendors and a children’s play area with bouncers, bubbles and games.

We’re deeply grateful to Shepherd of the Valley Church for presenting Heading Home with this wonderful community engagement opportunity. We hope to see you at the Chile Festival on 8/24 and 8/25!
