Having access to haircuts and grooming services is important to our shelter guests and A Better U Barber/Beauty Academy understands it’s important to look good for job interviews, school and self-esteem. Heading Home has been fortune to have developed a partnership with A Better U Barber/Beauty Academy.
A rotating group of barber students volunteer at both the Albuquerque Opportunity Center and the Westside Emergency Housing Center on a regular basis. Pat, the owner of the academy, and his students take time to talk to each guest and take pride in helping our shelter guests. Since getting involved with Heading Home in December they have impacted many of our shelter guests, including kids getting their first haircuts. Pat says he “is inspired by the amount of love and appreciation the shelter guests show him and his students.”
A Better U Barber/Beauty Academy offers a unique curriculum and activities that provide a solid foundation for their graduates to become successful in the hair artistry industry.
