On January 10, 2020, our CEO Dennis Plummer and Emergency Housing Program Director Carlos Sanchez visited the KRQE This Morning Show set where they explained how Heading Home offers prioritized street outreach, emergency housing and permanent supportive housing to those experiencing homelessness. Click here to watch the full interview.

“Heading Home along with a lot of nonprofits here in Albuquerque, with the City of Albuquerque are really working to focus on housing because we know that that’s the answer,” said Dennis. “So, in the meantime, there’s obviously emergent needs and so we’re also providing emergency shelter and services that are added to that as well.”

While housing is the ultimate solution to homelessness, Heading Home offers other crucial services, in addition to permanent supportive housing, to support both individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness. Dennis explains these services could be anything from financial stability, transportation, reconnecting with family members, and even natal needs. In one instance, Carlos says a family was selected to receive a donated vehicle. Click here to read that story! (Interested in donating your vehicle? Click here for more info!)

There are no pre-conditions for service and at Heading Home, we meets those we serve where they’re at on their unique journey to housing. Thank you, KRQE, for this opportunity to raise awareness about our impact in the community!
