The AOC: A Place for a New Start

Dillon spent about 7 months living on the streets, hopping between friends’ houses to shower. Eventually Dillon got connected to the Albuquerque Opportunity Center (AOC) at Heading Home. Dillon said that the AOC gave him a place where he could rest for the night, store his belongings and focus on doing what he needed to do to keep moving forward.

Connie, born and raised in Albuquerque, brings with her a wealth of knowledge from her lifelong efforts to enhance services for the underprivileged/underserved communities in Albuquerque. Connie's history of community service includes her work as Executive Director of the Barrett Foundation, Sawmill Community Land Trust, and the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.Currently, Connie serves as Vice Chair of the Bernalillo County Planning Commission and has been a member of several local and national nonprofit Board of Directors.Please join us in welcoming Connie to Heading Home as she works to fulfill the agency's mission as an innovative, collaborative leader in the community addressing homelessness. ...
